Hey friends,
You might’ve noticed it’s been a while since I last updated my Substack. There’s a reason for that!
When I first started my Substack, it was a way to answer the many, many questions I got after opening up about my past in the far right. People wanted to know how their loved ones ended up there, how to reach them, and if it was even possible. And those are big, complicated questions … ones that needed more than a quick post on Threads. (Darn that character limit.)
But at this point, I feel like I’ve said what I needed to say. I’ve covered what I can, and to keep going deeper into this niche would take more time and emotional energy than I realistically have. Unless I start showing up at your house to personally talk sense into your Trumper cousins (tempting, but impractical), I don’t think there’s much more I can add in that space.
So, it’s time for a shift! Lately, I’ve been noticing just how little media literacy people have when it comes to the far right: how their messaging works, how their influence seeps into mainstream spaces, and who’s actually pulling the strings. And let’s be real, most people don’t know much about the Trump fart-catchers running the media machine. Since I was once radicalized by this stuff, I have a unique perspective that can help cut through the noise. And I want to do that in a way that’s engaging, accessible, and yeah, sometimes even funny.
That doesn’t mean I’m not proud of the work I’ve done on my Substack – I absolutely am. And it isn’t going anywhere. I know it’s helped a lot of people, and that means the world to me. If something good came from my pain, then it was worth it. But it’s time to move forward.
Will that mean a new Substack? Maybe! I know some of you prefer long-form content over Tiktok, and I totally get that. If that’s something you’d be into, let me know!
